Suryadatta College of Physiotherapy Organises Ganesh Chaturthi Physiotherapy Camps, Reaching 300 People
Promoting Community Wellness Through Physiotherapy, Preventive Care and Rehabilitation Awareness
Extending its commitment to community healthcare, Suryadatta Institute of Health Sciences – College of Physiotherapy, Pune, organised physiotherapy camps at Siddhicha Ganapati Mandal, Bavdhan, on 20 September 2026 and Shrimant Bhau Rangari Ganpati Mandal on 24 September 2026, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi 2026.
The camps received an encouraging response, with approximately 300 individuals assessed across both locations. The physiotherapy team provided basic health assessments, appropriate physiotherapy interventions, ergonomic guidance and patient education on posture correction, healthy movement, prevention of musculoskeletal problems and the importance of timely physiotherapy care.
Second-year and final-year Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPTh) students actively participated in the camps under the guidance of Dr. Seemi Retharekar (PT), Principal, SIHS-COP, along with faculty members Dr. Apoorva Andhare (PT), Dr. Isaac Salve (PT), Dr. Chaitali Neve (PT) and Dr. Neha Pandey.
The initiative offered students valuable hands-on experience in patient assessment, clinical decision-making, communication and community-based healthcare delivery, while creating greater awareness about the role of physiotherapy in maintaining mobility and improving quality of life.
The camps were conducted under the guidance of Professor Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, Founder President and Chairman of Suryadatta Education Foundation, who congratulated the students and faculty members for their dedicated efforts and successful execution of the initiative.
Through such community outreach programmes, Suryadatta Institute of Health Sciences – College of Physiotherapy continues to promote accessible healthcare, preventive care and rehabilitation awareness, bringing physiotherapy services closer to the community while nurturing socially responsible healthcare professionals.

Healthy hearts begin with healthy habits!
On the occasion of World Heart Day 2026, the Department of Cardiovascular & Respiratory Physiotherapy at Suryadatta Institute of Health Sciences, College of Physiotherapy, Pune, organised an engaging Heart Health Awareness Programme for students of Suryadatta National School, under the global theme “Don’t Miss a Beat.”
The programme was conducted in two interactive sessions tailored to different age groups. Students from Standards I to V learned about heart health through an awareness session led by Dr. Akshata Mane (PT), Assistant Professor, and Dr. Tiku Rajkiran, Professor, along with final-year BPTh students. The session featured aerobic exercises and a pledge-taking activity, inspiring young learners to embrace an active lifestyle.
Students from Standards VI to X participated in an interactive session led by Dr. Seemi Retharekar, Principal, SIHS College of Physiotherapy. A lively question-and-answer session and an oath-taking ceremony for a healthy heart encouraged students to make informed choices for their cardiovascular well-being.
The initiative was facilitated with enthusiasm by Dr. Anupama, Principal, and Dr. Prajakta, Vice Principal, Suryadatta National School, under the guidance of Ms. Snehal Navalakha, AVP, Suryadatta Education Foundation.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, Founder President & Chairman, Suryadatta Group of Institutes, emphasised, “Heart health awareness must begin at an early age. Through initiatives such as this, we aim to empower young students with the knowledge and healthy habits needed to lead active and healthier lives.”
The programme highlighted the importance of regular physical activity, nutritious food, adequate sleep and reducing prolonged sedentary behaviour. Through interactive learning and practical activities, students were encouraged to take small yet meaningful steps towards lifelong heart health.

Lung Health Campaign for Traffic Police
Suryadatta Institute of Health Sciences – College of Physiotherapy (SIHS-COP) conducted a two-day lung health and COPD awareness campaign for traffic police in Pune.
102 officers underwent respiratory check-ups, PEFR tests, and were guided on breathing exercises, lung care, and protective mask use.
Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya said:“COPD is silent but dangerous. Awareness and timely care protect lung health.”
The initiative reflects Suryadatta’s commitment to public health and frontline workers.
Suryadatta Dhanwantari Hospital: Hands-on Medical Learning for Students
Suryadatta Group of Institutes organized a unique 3-day mock hospital – Suryadatta Dhanwantari Hospital – giving students real-time experience as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and administrators. The initiative, guided by Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya and Mrs. Sushma Chordiya, featured OPDs, IPDs, ICU, diagnostics, emergency drills, and hospital administration.
Students from Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Hospitality, Interior and other streams actively participated, learning healthcare delivery, patient handling, and holistic practices like yoga, counseling, and rehabilitation.
Renowned doctors and professionals were honored with the Suryadatta Dhanwantari Healthcare Excellence Awards. Dr. Chordiya announced that a state-of-the-art multispeciality hospital offering Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Allopathy will soon be established, further enriching student training and community service.
Physiotherapy Week 2025 Celebrated at Suryadatta College of Physiotherapy, Pune Theme: “Healthy Aging”
Suryadatta College of Physiotherapy celebrated World Physiotherapy Week 2025 with a series of academic, cultural, and sports activities focused on “Healthy Aging.” The week began with Physiokalpana Rangoli and a lively flashmob, reflecting creativity and youthful energy. Students attended expert lectures on heart health, neurological changes, respiratory wellness, and nutrition, participated in Physiocrats 3D model challenges, and enjoyed interactive academic games and outdoor sports promoting fitness, teamwork, and well-being.
